Job summary

The City of Berkeley invites applications for Firefighter EMT in the Berkeley Fire Department. You will learn and perform duties for fire suppression and basic life support medical situations, assigned to a truck or engine with a 3–4 person crew, and respond to a variety of emergencies.

Requirements include high school graduation or GED, CA EMT (or NREMT) certification, CPAT within one year, FCTC written exam within one year, valid driver’s license, and vaccination proof.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• Valid California EMT Certification or NREMT EMT Certification.
• CPAT Card of Completion within 1 year of deadline.
• Successful completion of FCTC written exam within 1 year of deadline.
• Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
• Proof of vaccination (TDaP, TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Influenza).

Responsibilities

• Respond to fires, medical emergencies and other calls as part of a crew.
• Learn and perform duties for fire suppression and basic life support.
• Be assigned to a truck or engine with a 3–4 person crew.
• Respond to emergency and non‑emergency situations as required.
