Job summary

Rural King is seeking a Firearms Sales Associate to deliver exceptional customer service and expert guidance on firearms and related accessories. You will ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, demonstrate product features, and build long-term customer relationships in a fast-paced store environment.

You will assist with inventory displays, process transactions at the POS, and participate in training programs to stay current on products and industry developments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; firearms safety training a plus.
• Experience in firearms sales or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local firearms laws and regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer engagement.
• Ability to listen, respond clearly, and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and create a welcoming atmosphere in the firearms department.
• Engage customers to understand needs and budget; provide guided recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with all firearms laws and regulations in sales and transfers.
• Complete required firearm compliance training and demonstrate SOP understanding.
• Help customers select ammunition, accessories, and related products.
• Maintain organized, accurately labeled firearms displays and pricing.
• Process transactions accurately at the POS and manage documentation.
• Stay informed on firearms trends and product knowledge to advise customers.
• Address questions promptly and escalate to supervisor when needed.
• Build long-term relationships to generate repeat business and referrals.
• Demonstrate product features and conduct demonstrations when appropriate.
• Utilize upselling and cross-selling techniques to increase basket size.
• Promote exclusive offers, protection plans, and loyalty programs.
• Support visual merchandising and cleanliness of the sales floor.
