Job summary

Summit Fire & Security is seeking an entry-level Inspector trainee to learn fire protection inspections and 24-hour service under supervision. You will assist Inspectors with NFPA-compliant inspections and develop knowledge of sprinklers, alarms, and suppression systems.

Responsibilities include testing under supervision, completing weekly on-the-job training, and progressing toward NICET certification within the training program. A valid driver’s license and strong safety awareness are required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-2 years’ experience inspecting fire protection systems preferred.
• Must be able to work alone and as part of a team.
• Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills, customer service skills, decision making, multitasking and planning.
• English communication skills required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Must comply with safety, background screening and related policies.
• Begin NICET exam cycle within training timeline.

Responsibilities

• Assist Inspectors while they inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA codes.
• Develop knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
• Develop knowledge of fire sprinkler, alarm and suppression systems and components.
• Perform testing and maintenance under supervision of an Inspection/Service Technician.
• Complete on-the-job training documentation weekly.
• Differentiate between inspection deficiencies and service needs.
• Follow safety program, SDS, hazard communication policies; join toolbox talks.
• Attend Inspector training sessions and NICET prep steps.
• Begin NICET cycle within training evolutions and test within approx. 1 year.
• Other duties as assigned.
