Job summary

Olsson's South Facilities Engineering and Design team seeks a Fire Protection Engineering Manager to lead a growing group delivering complex projects across healthcare, education, commercial, and federal facilities.

In this leadership role, you will mentor engineers, ensure design quality, manage resources and schedules, and collaborate with architects and MEP professionals to deliver integrated building systems. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Fire Protection Engineer credential preferred.
• 8+ years of fire protection engineering experience.
• 4+ years of leadership, supervisory, project management, or team development experience.
• Experience supporting business development, proposal efforts, and client relationship management.
• Strong working knowledge of NFPA standards, IBC, IFC, UFCs, and client specifications.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fire protection engineers and designers.
• Manage team workload, staffing plans, resource allocation, and project assignments.
• Provide technical leadership and quality oversight for fire protection and life safety system designs.
• Oversee the design and review of fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety systems.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and project teams, building strong relationships.
• Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, project managers, and security professionals.
• Support business development through proposal development, project scoping, client presentations, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement, technical knowledge sharing, and implementation of best practices across the team.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, succession planning, and team growth initiatives.
• Monitor project quality, schedules, and budgets while supporting project managers and technical teams.
• Occasionally travel to project sites and Olsson offices (approx. 10%).
