Job summary

Olsson Associates is hiring a Fire Protection Engineering Manager to lead a growing South Facilities Engineering and Design team. You will guide a group of fire protection engineers and designers, ensuring technical excellence and on-time project delivery for diverse facilities.

You will mentor staff, manage workloads, support business development, and collaborate with cross-discipline teams to deliver integrated building systems and growth for Olsson's fire protection practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) credential preferred.
• 8+ years of fire protection engineering experience.
• 4+ years of leadership, supervisory, project management, or team development experience.
• Experience supporting business development, proposal efforts, and client relationship management.
• Strong working knowledge of NFPA standards, IBC, IFC, UFCs, and client specifications.
• Proficiency with design and modeling tools such as Revit, AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD, or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fire protection engineers and designers.
• Manage team workload, staffing plans, resource allocation, and project assignments.
• Provide technical leadership and quality oversight for fire protection and life safety system designs.
• Oversee design and review of fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety systems.
• Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, project managers, and security professionals.
• Support business development through proposals and client presentations.
• Drive continuous improvement and implementation of best practices.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, succession planning, and growth initiatives.
• Monitor project quality, schedules, and budgets; support project managers and teams.
