Job summary

IMEG Corporation is recruiting a Fire Protection Engineering Intern for a 10–12 week in-office summer program spanning Des Moines, IA, Boston, MA, and Louisville, KY. You will assist with design portions, budget support, documentation, and site observations under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Eligible candidates are pursuing at least two years toward a BS in fire protection, mechanical, or electrical engineering, with internship or related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of fire protection systems for building projects according to code and IMEG standards
• Research commercially available equipment and supporting resources
• Support project budgeting and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations
• Help maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation
• Coordinate design and schedule information with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress
• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check
• Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information
• Conduct periodic job site observations and support contract-required services
