Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to support federal construction projects in the Fort Worth area. You will serve as the subject matter expert for fire and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and applicable codes.

The role involves design reviews, inspections, QA, submittal reviews, acceptance testing, and coordination with project teams. PE licensure and 5+ years' experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of Fire Protection Engineering experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and fire/life safety requirements.
• Experience with USACE or other federal projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish a thorough understanding of fire protection requirements related to UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards.
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure successful execution of fire protection features of work.
• Perform reviews and plan-in-hand reviews, applying lessons learned from pre-construction to post-construction.
• Conduct inspections in compliance with project documentation and contract requirements.
• Evaluate work practices to ensure compliance with fire protection codes and policies.
• Prepare detailed technical reports identifying deficiencies and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance regarding facility design and fire protection systems.
• Serve as a fire-safety consultant to project managers and government personnel.
• Review contractor submittals and RFIs.
