Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to contribute to life safety, fire suppression and alarm systems on federal and commercial projects. The role supports HydraCAD analyses and code compliance.

You will collaborate with sales, review designs, and mentor junior staff while working in a hybrid environment across multiple office locations, including Boston, MA, Fairfax, VA, Pittsburgh, PA, Maitland, FL, Raleigh, NC, and Dallas, TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection designs including water supply, hydraulics, and sprinkler/suppression systems.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects including life safety analysis and design.
• Review designs for compliance with NFPA, UFC, and local regulations.
• Collaborate with sales to prepare proposals and meet client requirements.
• Mentor junior staff and supervise engineers on projects.
