CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to develop comprehensive fire protection systems, collaborating with a diverse team across multiple offices. The role focuses on life safety, NFPA/UFC compliance, and robust design of sprinkler, alarm, and suppression systems for federal and commercial projects.

The position offers a hybrid work model with opportunities across major U.S. offices and travel as required to meet project needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license.
7 years of related experience; travel may be required.
Domestic/international travel may be required; frequency contingent on project.
Experience with UFC criteria, FM Global datasheets, and fire protection design.

Responsibilities

Develop fire protection designs including water supply, hydraulics, sprinklers and alarms.
Act as QFPE for federal projects on life safety and fire protection.
Review designs for NFPA/UFC compliance and sign off on plans.
Collaborate with sales to prepare proposals and respond to RFPs.
Meet with clients to review current and future design needs.
