Job summary

The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, Office of the Fire Marshal, is seeking a Front Counter Technician to issue permits for fire prevention, CUPA/PA, or abatement and to assist customers with applications and inquiries.

Responsibilities include scheduling inspections, calculating fees, maintaining case records, and researching data to ensure code compliance. The role supports community safety through efficient administrative workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience processing permits or inspections for fire, building, or abatement programs.
• Excellent customer service and strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Desirable CA State Fire Marshal/ CUPA/HAZMAT related course certificates.

Responsibilities

• Issue Fire Prevention, CUPA/PA permits, or Fire Hazard Abatement compliance.
• Receive and schedule inspections; assist customers with applications and questions.
• Calculate plan check and enforcement fees; maintain accurate records.
• Research and verify parcel numbers, ownership, addresses, and related data.
