Job summary

CSG Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Permit Technician in California to perform frontline customer service and processing of building permits. You will review submissions, verify site locations and zoning, and issue permits with accurate recordkeeping.

Role requires clerical experience, familiarity with permitting software, and a valid CA driver’s license. The position is on-site with potential visits to client locations and occasional driving responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Possess or obtain ICC Permit Technician certification within six to twelve months.
• Two years clerical experience with public contact, preferably in construction/permits.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to use permitting software.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers at the counter with permit information and referrals.
• Review and distribute permit applications according to procedures and legal requirements.
• Verify site plots, zoning, and engineering requirements for permits.
• Maintain accurate permit records and monthly reports.
• Assist with plan reviews, inspections, and fee collection.
• Operate standard office equipment and related software.
• Travel to client sites as needed.
