Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Fire Service Technician to troubleshoot, repair and program Fire and Life Safety systems. You will work with our service team and clients to ensure systems operate reliably and meet NFPA standards.

Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, repairing conventional and addressable fire alarm systems, and providing clear repair reports. You must be able to read drawings, program via laptop, and maintain safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Two to five years experience in a repair or systems technician role within the Fire Life and Safety industry.
• Knowledge of current fire alarm systems, including smoke control, GUIs, and networked solutions.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Fire Alarm circuit integrity and how to troubleshoot for circuit opens, shorts, and/or ground conditions.
• Ability to program and repair fire alarm systems using a laptop computer.
• Knowledgeable of NFPA 72 code requirements.
• Intermediate knowledge of Article 760 of NFPA 70 for installation of fire systems and circuiting.
• Knowledgeable of state, federal, and other regulatory requirements for testing of fire alarm systems.
• Ability to read fire system design drawings.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the safe use of standard trade tools.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 Certifications.
• Customer-focused; skilled in project and people management.
• Be physically fit to perform demanding work with lifting and heights.
• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and repairing Fire and Life Safety systems, including conventional, addressable, voice systems, complex smoke control, and networked solutions.
• Use troubleshooting tools to analyze systems and detect fault conditions.
• Ensure maximum system detection and alarm coverage when repairing.
• Produce repair reports in accordance with NFPA for customer acceptance and billing.
• Programming systems via laptop computers.
• Ensure Fire Alarm circuit integrity.
• Assist in managing vehicle inventory and repair tools.
• Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.
