Job summary

Johnson Controls in the United States is seeking a skilled Fire & Security Service Technician to respond to service calls, diagnose issues, and perform service and repairs on electronic fire & life safety systems at customer sites. This role emphasizes safety, code compliance, and clear communication with customers.

You will diagnose equipment, install and test systems, and document work to ensure reliable service.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
• Knowledge of test equipment, including a multimeter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Excellent customer service skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment up to 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to work in awkward positions and at heights, including ladders and scaffolding up to 40 feet.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in on-call and after-hours work.
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record meeting company requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls, review issues, and contact the customer to confirm the problem.
• Diagnose and repair electronic fire alarm systems and related building products at customer sites.
• Service, troubleshoot, and install Fire & Life Safety systems and equipment from various manufacturers.
• Follow procedures and use manuals and bulletins to complete repairs.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, and system documentation to inform service work.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements with accurate coding.
• Obtain customer signature on completion of service calls.
• Participate in on-call rotation and support customer needs.
• Mentor other members of the service team.
• Provide recommendations, quotes, and support to improve facility performance.
• Deliver high level of customer service and act as a trusted advisor.
