Job summary

The Hiller Companies, LLC is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to inspect, test, maintain and repair fire alarm systems in compliance with NFPA codes and industry standards. The role emphasizes safety, thorough inspections and clear customer communication across commercial and industrial sites.

Responsibilities include routine testing of panels and detectors, reporting findings, performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and documenting activities using ServiceTrade; travel to client

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical or vocational training in fire alarm systems or related field preferred.
  • NICET certification strongly preferred.
  • State Fire Alarm licensing preferred, or ability to acquire.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to client sites.
  • Prior experience in installation, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial/industrial settings.
  • Solid understanding of NFPA 72 and relevant building and fire codes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and manuals for fire alarm equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test fire alarm components to verify proper operation.
  • Prepare reports documenting inspection findings and deficiencies per NFPA codes.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs.
  • Respond to service calls and emergencies to restore functionality.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and battery replacement.
  • Document all service activities using ServiceTrade.
  • Collaborate with Deficiency Sellers to prepare repair estimates.
  • Interact with clients to schedule work and discuss findings.
  • Coordinate with Service Coordinators to optimize work orders.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
