Job summary

The Hiller Companies, LLC is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to inspect, test, maintain and repair fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA codes and industry standards. The role includes detailed reporting, fault finding, and on-site client interaction with a focus on safety and reliability.

You will perform routine inspections, troubleshoot, respond to service calls, and assist with preventive maintenance and system upgrades while maintaining meticulous documentation for each job.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical or vocational training in fire alarm systems.
  • 3-5 years of Fire Alarm Technician experience preferred.
  • NICET certifications strongly preferred.
  • State Fire Alarm licensing preferred or able to acquire.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record; travel to client sites as needed.
  • Experience in installation, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial/industrial settings.
  • Solid understanding of NFPA codes and fire regulations.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, maintain and repair fire alarm systems per standards and regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of components (panels, detectors, horns, strobes, annunciators).
  • Prepare detailed reports of inspections, tests and deficiencies per NFPA codes.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs; address wiring, circuitry and device issues.
  • Respond to service calls and emergencies; diagnose and restore system function.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, calibration and battery replacement.
  • Document all service activities with reports, work orders and parts usage.
  • Collaborate with Deficiency Sellers to provide inspection notes and repair estimates.
  • Communicate with clients to schedule work and discuss findings; propose upgrades.
