Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a skilled Service Technician to diagnose, repair and install fire alarm and life safety systems at customer sites. You will read blueprints, troubleshoot complex building systems and provide excellent customer service while supporting on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound and communications systems.
• Able to read blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
• Proficient with computers.
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Capable of physical labor up to 50-70 lbs and climbing ladders, scaffolding or high lifts up to 40 feet.
• Willing to work weekends and overnight travel.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Maintain truck inventory and safety compliance.
• Valid driver’s license and relevant licenses.

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls and identify equipment/system malfunctions.
• Contact customer representatives and ascertain problems.
• Diagnose and repair fire alarm and related building systems at customer sites.
• Follow troubleshooting procedures and refer to manuals to repair equipment.
• Service, troubleshoot and install fire & life safety systems including SimplexGrinnell.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications and manuals.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding using devices.
• Provide on-call support and participate in rotation.
• Mentor others on the service team.
• Provide solutions to improve facility efficiency and upsell where appropriate.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations.
