Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking an Inspector to conduct routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on electrical, sprinkler or suppression life safety product lines in Texas.

The role requires a Texas Fire Alarm License and the ability to perform physical work, climb ladders and handle tools up to 70lbs. You will document work with laptops or paper, follow a precise inspection schedule, and perform minor repairs or programming changes as needed.

Qualifications

• Installation or Service Experience in testing and inspecting Fire Alarm Equipment.
• Texas Fire Alarm License.
• Self-starter that can work with little or no supervision.
• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.
• Capable of performing physical labor.
• Excellent communication skills.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Basic computer skills – Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook) along with SmartPhone skills

Responsibilities

• Test and inspect fire alarm systems with existing and new customer base.
• Maintain proper documentation for work performed using tools provided.
• Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy.
• Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
• Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via mobile device.
• Make minor repairs and programming changes to systems being inspected.
• Must adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
• Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs.
• Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions; such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.
• Must be able to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer needs.
• Must perform all duties in a safe and professional manner & maintain a clean and safe work area
