Brex is seeking an experienced financial regulatory lawyer to join our Seattle office as a hybrid in-house counsel. You will partner with engineering, design, and product teams to shape bill pay and payments features while ensuring compliance with money transmission laws and regulations.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in law firms and fintechs, strong communication skills, and a willingness to navigate fast-paced product development.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in law firms and fintech companies advising on money transmission and payments

Responsibilities

  • Serve as embedded legal partner to engineering, design, and product teams building bill pay and payments features
  • Provide pragmatic advice on money transmission requirements and best practices for existing and new bill pay and payments products
  • Advise on regulatory implications of product architecture, payment flows, fund movement, and feature design
  • Advise cross-functional partners on money transmission and payments regulatory questions
  • Track and analyse US state and federal money transmission laws and relevant international regulations
  • Advise on product and marketing collateral, customer communications, and disclosures for bill pay and money movement products
  • Draft, update, and maintain customer agreements, terms, and disclosures for bill pay and money movement products
  • Support licensing, bank partner, and payments-network requirements for product launches
