Job summary

Viceroy Hotels in Santa Monica is seeking a Server Assistant to oversee table maintenance, assist the servers, and ensure prompt service in a fine-dining setting. This role suits a hospitality professional who is organized, friendly, and passionate about selfless guest care.

You will work with the dining room team to maintain cleanliness, support servers and bartenders, and uphold quality standards. Prior experience in a high-volume restaurant is preferred, with strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience in a fine dining, high-volume atmosphere.
• Exceptional communication skills
• Prior experience as a busser or server assistant in a full-service restaurant
• Ability to learn and retain information quickly
• Intellectual curiosity
• Ability to work clean, organized and as part of a team
• Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
• May be required to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs

Responsibilities

• Assist and support servers, bartenders and room service servers to ensure prompt service and guest's satisfaction.
• Maintain dining room and equipment cleanliness.
• Keep the restaurant organized and clean.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day.
• Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc.
• Check food quality and correctness as well as running food.
• Carry heavy equipment for extended periods, trays with food.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
• Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards.
• Anticipate and address guests' service needs.
• Speak with others using clear and professional language.
• Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
• Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with peers, management, line and front of the house colleagues.
• Be responsible for cleanliness of the immediate work area and general property.
• Subscribe to proper grooming, dress and uniform standards as set forth by company policy.
• Be courteous to all guests and fellow colleagues.
