Job summary

Aspen Grove Behavioral Hospital in Utah is seeking a Financial Counselor to support patients with billing and payment arrangements. The role focuses on past-due accounts, insurance verification, and financial counseling to verify demographics and arrange payment plans.

The position is full-time, Monday–Friday with potential weekend coverage. PTO, ELB, comprehensive benefits, 401(k) with employer match, free meals, and opportunities for career development across UHS locations.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Financial Counselor or in finance for 1-2 years preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
• Must be 21 years of age or older

Responsibilities

• Monitors and reviews past due accounts and follows up on documentation to determine delinquency status.
• Investigates delinquency cases and identifies special circumstances delaying payment.
• Contacts third party payer organizations and/or patients to facilitate timely payments or arrange settlements.
• Performs financial counseling to verify demographics/insurance and arrange payment plans for patient responsibility.
• Identifies delinquency issues and recommends disposition (collections, legal action, or write-off).
• Prepares records documenting status and disposition of past due accounts.
