Job summary

Montana State University is seeking a Financial Associate to join Fiscal Shared Services on the Bozeman campus. The role provides accounting support, customer service, and financial education to departments while collaborating with central University offices.

You will handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting, ensuring accurate transactions and responsive service across multiple clients.

Qualifications

• Experience with accounting transactions, financial reporting, budgeting and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel and accounting software to analyze and summarize financial data.
• Demonstrated customer support experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides exceptional customer service to client departments through high quality work and responsiveness.
• Performs accounts payable functions for a wide variety of clients, processing invoices, journal vouchers and purchasing card transactions.
• Initiates accounts receivable invoices to external and internal customers and assists with collection of revenue on behalf of clients.
• Reconciles expense and revenue transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy of records.
• Generates monthly financial reports for client departments to support decision making and fund management.
• Advises department heads and other personnel on departmental financial position and resolves issues timely.
• Educates and supports staff, faculty and students on business processes and internal controls.
