Northeastern Supply, Inc. in Golden Ring, MD is seeking an Accountant Assistant to support the Finance Department by maintaining accurate financial records and handling fleet-related accounting functions.

The role covers accounts payable, accounts receivable, corporate card administration, and month-end close, requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years' experience in a similar role.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the fuel card program, review monthly billing, and approve usage.
• Add and delete fuel cards, assign fuel card PINs to employees, and assist employees with point-of-sale issues.
• Update the fleet report for driver's insurance, keeping the spreadsheet current and audit-compliant.
• Maintain vehicle files for expiring registrations and emissions; update and reconcile the EZ Pass database.
• Monitor speed violations, prepare annual reporting, and book fixed asset acquisitions and disposals.
• Complete bank and post office runs multiple times per week; assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Liaise with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable; assist with internal audits by preparing documentation.
• Cross-train with AP Specialist and Credit Specialist positions to cover vacations or extended absences.
• Void checks and defund credit cards for the AP Department as necessary; track AP credit memos and balance the AR GL 1140.
• Monitor spending and approve corporate card expenses; order and cancel cards as requested by management.
• Reconcile and pay the corporate credit card and Payables credit card statements.
• Enter payroll, month-end spreadsheets, rebates, and other data into the ERP system.
• Initiate bank transfers and wires.
• Fulfill branch requests for supplies as needed, such as credit card tape and deposit slips.
• Manage special projects initiated by management, including digital migration and purging physical records past their storage life.
• Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller with additional tasks as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
