Job summary

Maverick seeks a Controller to own the finance function end-to-end. You will oversee accounting, reporting, and financial operations with oversight from the corporate controller and external auditors, and handle vendor invoicing with a dedicated shared services team.

You will steer the operational processes feeding the close, including premium and commission flows, carrier settlements, cash application, and the systems behind them, driving faster, cleaner, and more automated workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least two in a Controller/Accounting Manager role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ownership of a full-cycle close and producing financial statements with limited supervision.
• Advanced Excel and comfort manipulating data; experience with ERP/accounting systems and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close — GL, journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals, delivering accurate statements on a predictable schedule.
• Maintain chart of accounts and accounting policies suitable for a multi‑line operation (MGU/insurance/warranty).
• Oversee year-end audit and carrier, lender, or corporate reviews; coordinate requests and be the main point of accountability.
• Deliver monthly financial package and leadership reporting, ensuring numbers stand up to external scrutiny without rework.
• Drive automation and process improvements across finance functions, embracing technology to speed and simplify close and reporting.
