Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant for a remote role reporting to the Controller. You will maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, analyze data, and ensure regulatory compliance across budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements.

Key responsibilities include reconciliations, journal entries, billing reviews, and revenue recognition analysis. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years (staff) or 5–8 years (senior) of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Thorough knowledge and experience in financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including account reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze expenditures and report allocations to departments.
• Review transactions for GAAP compliance and company policies.
• Analyze revenue recognition and billing transactions for proper allocation.
• Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals in the general ledger.
• Assist in building financial statements and budget variance analysis.
• Assist in budgeting preparation for management review.
• Prepare year-end tax schedules and compliance.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
