Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant for a remote role reporting to the Controller. You will maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, analyze data, and ensure regulatory compliance across budgeting, forecasts, audits, and process improvements.

The ideal candidate has a solid accounting background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate financial information across the organization. CPA preferred and experience with ERP systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA preferred.
• 3-5 years staff accountant or 5-8 years sr accountant experience; public accounting background valued.
• Proven GAAP knowledge and strong financial statement preparation skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities; detail-oriented and deadline-driven.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting functions including reconciliations, journal entries, AR/AP, and billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate costs to departments; report to stakeholders as needed.
• Ensure transactions comply with GAAP and company policies; review revenue recognition.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual journal entries and accruals.
• Assist in building financial statements and budgets; support year-end tax schedules.
• Identify process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and controls.
