Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a remote Staff/Senior Accountant to join our finance team reporting to the Controller. You will maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, analyze data, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting budgeting and audits.

The ideal candidate has strong accounting and reporting skills, with experience in GAAP and revenue recognition. A CPA is preferred and Excel proficiency is essential for this fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3-5 years (Staff Accountant) or 5-8 (Sr Accountant) years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Team player with a positive attitude toward learning and contribution.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to convey financial information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate expenses to departments with reporting.
• Ensure transactions align with GAAP and company policies.
• Review revenue recognition and billing transactions for proper allocation.
• Prepare journal entries and accruals for monthly, quarterly, and yearly periods.
• Assist in building financial statements and budget variance analysis.
• Support budgeting and year-end tax schedules.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
