Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to support its growing operations. This remote role reports to the Controller and involves maintaining accurate financial records, reporting, data analysis, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

You’ll work on budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements, contributing to the company’s financial health and strategic decisions. BenchPrep values analysis, ownership, and continuous improvement across finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years (Staff Accountant), or 5–8 (Sr Accountant) years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and revenue recognition experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to multitask and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate expenses to departments; report findings to departments.
• Ensure transactions align with GAAP and company policies.
• Review billing transactions and revenue recognition; post accruals monthly, quarterly, yearly.
• Assist in building financial statements and budget variance analysis; support year-end tax schedules.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures.
