Job summary

ACV Auctions is seeking an enthusiastic Inspector who loves cars and wants to join a growing company. Inspectors are the face of ACV Auctions, knowledgeable about vehicles and able to explain findings clearly to clients.

You will work with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors to inspect vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease, detecting damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems, then prepare condition reports and cost estimates.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in the automobile field with a customer service background.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to work outside in the elements for extended periods.
• Problem-solving aptitude to meet challenges with resourcefulness and innovative approaches.
• Proven success working independently with minimal supervision while working in a team.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand customer needs and expectations.
• Valid driver’s license and use of a validly registered and insured motor vehicle.
• Knowledge of system capabilities and common software/web-based applications.
• Ability to perform manual labor such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 lbs, bending, and squatting.
• Ability to drive a manual and automatic transmission.
• Vision abilities required to identify defects around and underneath vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Actively support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Partner with a Territory Manager and Inspectors to conduct inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease.
• Prepare and submit a report of vehicle condition, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
• Help the sales team up-sell or cross-sell services and products.
• Interface with dealers to develop client satisfaction and build strong relationships.
• Travel to and from dealerships and homes to inspect and write condition reports and list vehicles for sale on ACV Auctions platform.
• Take multiple photos and upload them to the image server using the company-issued smartphone.
• List inspected wholesale vehicles for bidding and purchasing on the platform.
• Sign up independent dealerships as buyers to utilize the platform.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
