Job summary

ArborMetrics (AMS) is seeking a Consulting Utility Forester to work outdoors, assess vegetation in energy corridors, and coordinate with landowners. You will perform risk assessments, apply pruning standards, and support compliance with client specifications.

Must have forestry background and strong GIS/MS Office skills. Role requires independent work, safety diligence, and good communication with agencies and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture or tree-related work preferred.
• Knowledge of tree identification.
• Proficient with GIS and Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work alone outdoors in varying weather and terrain.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Patrol: organize records, maps, and paperwork; review sites for habitats and endangered species.
• Field Patrol: identify vegetation for pruning/removal; classify work and apply ANSI standards.
• Engagement: communicate plans to landowners and agencies; obtain permissions.
• Vegetation & Compliance: recommend IVM-based strategies; audit contractor work.
• Coordination & Safety: coordinate non-routine work; follow safety protocols.
• Additional: participate in storm response; perform other duties as assigned.
