Job summary

ACRT, Inc. is seeking a Contract Utility Forester to identify and evaluate trees along utility lines, plan crews, and coordinate access while traveling across Virginia.

The role suits entry to mid-level professionals with forestry or related backgrounds and requires strong communication and independence. Responsibilities include submitting inspection results with recommendations, coordinating line-clearance crews, and liaising with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 2 year or 4 year degree in forestry, horticulture, environmental science or related field OR in lieu of a degree, 2 years of utility vegetation management or related field experience
• Previous experience in Utility Vegetation Management preferred
• Competent with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working with GIS integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required
• Self-motivated, organized and production oriented
• Able to manage a geographical area and work independently
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Virginia

Responsibilities

• Identify, inspect, and evaluate trees and brush along utility lines; submit inspection results with recommendations
• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of assigned line-clearance crews
• Discuss and negotiate crew access issues with clients and customers
• Travel throughout Virginia with some overnight travel
