Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Transportation Technician II in North Carolina to apply standard inspection procedures on ongoing roadway and bridge construction. You will verify conformance to plans, perform material testing, and maintain inspection records in field conditions.

The role requires an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field, an active driver’s license, and the ability to work in hazardous outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field with 2 years’ technician experience or equivalent.
• Active driver’s license and ability to operate in field environments.
• Experience analyzing highway construction plans and specifications.
• NCDOT certifications such as Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, Conventional Density Testing preferred.
• 4+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Perform routine material testing and measure/track quantities of pay items.
• Gather and maintain record documents including material certifications and testing reports.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
