Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Transportation Technician I to apply standard inspection procedures on transportation projects in North Carolina, ensuring conformance to plans, specs, and safety requirements. Statewide opportunities are available and discussed with the hiring manager during interview.

Minimum qualifications include an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology, or two years CEI experience.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related curriculum.
• Two years CEI experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
• NCDOT certifications are preferred (Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, Conventional Density Testing).

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects to verify conformance to plans and specs.
• Perform routine material testing.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Maintain and collect records including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector diaries.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
