Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Transportation Technician I for field inspection in North Carolina, with opportunities across statewide projects. The role focuses on verifying conformance to plans, performing material tests, and tracking quantities while supporting highway and bridge developments.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate degree or two years CEI experience, possess a valid driver’s license, and have experience with NCDOT-related certifications.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or two years equivalent CEI experience.
• Active driver’s license.
• NCDOT certifications including Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred.
• Construction inspection experience on NCDOT projects preferred.
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of contractor’s operations on a variety of transportation projects including roadway and bridge construction to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Performs routine material testing
• Measure and track quantities of pay items
• Gathers and maintains record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s daily diaries
• Perform other related duties as assigned
