The Transportation Technician II role applies standard inspection procedures to ensure quality, safety, and conformance with plans in North Carolina.

The position is field-based in Hickory, NC, with multiple NC locations discussed with the hiring manager.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related curriculum; two (2) years of progressive technician level experience or an equivalent education/experience combination.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
• NCDOT certifications including Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred.
• 4+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Perform routine material testing.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Gather and maintain record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s daily diaries.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
