Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson in North Carolina is seeking a Transportation Technician II to apply standard inspection procedures on ongoing transportation projects, ensuring quality, safety and conformance to plans.

The role requires an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology, a valid driver’s license, and experience interpreting highway plans. It offers fieldwork in multiple NC locations and is not eligible for employer sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related; 2 years of technician level experience.
• Active driver’s license is required.
• Experience interpreting highway construction plans.
• NCDOT certifications including Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred.
• 4+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects preferred.
• Must complete and pass JMT Motor Vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on road and bridge projects to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Perform routine material testing.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Gather and maintain records including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s daily diaries.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
