Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking a Construction Inspector TT-1 in Raleigh, NC to manage and perform field construction administration and inspection for NCDOT/local projects. The role requires inspection experience, plan reading, and clear communication; nighttime/weekend work may be required.

The position emphasizes safety, data collection, and documentation, with an emphasis on meeting contract and permit requirements. Competitive salary and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology required; a high school diploma or state equivalency with at least two years of related experience may be substituted.
• Demonstrated inspection experience with roadway and bridge construction, utility construction, and pavement projects requiring monitoring conformance to designs and permits.
• Experience coordinating inspection duties with multiple crews; experience tracking daily quantities and daily inspection reports.
• Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record; good communication skills; ability to read/interpret plans and specifications.
• Writing and drawing skills are necessary to complete inspection reports; basic computer skills (Word & Excel) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation of Contractor operations to ensure conformance with contract documents.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by Contractor.
• Perform materials testing and maintain testing logs.
• Prepare sketches and assemble data for Engineer’s use in making changes to the project.
• Keep diaries and reports on work accomplished and deficiencies.
• Perform sophisticated, complex mathematical calculations.
