Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Construction Inspector TT-5 to join our CEI team. The role oversees field inspection, reports, materials testing, plan interpretation, and adherence to contract documents for NCDOT and local transportation projects.

The position requires an Associate’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with extensive inspection experience, valid driver’s license, and the ability to work nights/weekends as

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with six years of related experience.
Experience inspecting roadway, bridge, utility construction, and pavement rehabilitation projects.
Experience coordinating inspection duties with multiple crews.
Experience tracking daily quantities and completing daily inspection reports; knowledge of as-built drawings.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Strong communication skills; ability to read/interpret plans and specifications; writing and drawing skills.
Proficiency with Word and Excel is desirable.

Responsibilities

Perform field observation of Contractor operations to ensure conformance with contract documents.
Prepare daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by Contractor.
Perform materials testing and maintain testing logs.
Prepare sketches and assemble data for Engineer use in project changes.
Keep diaries and report deficiencies; document work completed.
Perform sophisticated, complex mathematical calculations.
