Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Raleigh, NC is seeking a NCDOT CEI Transportation Technician II (TT-2) to join our CEI team. The Inspector will manage and perform daily construction administration and inspection services for transportation projects.

The role requires an Associate’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with related experience, strong inspection skills, and proficiency in Word/Excel.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology or equivalent.
• Two years of progressive transportation technician experience required; substitution allowed with high school diploma plus four years related experience.
• Demonstrated inspection experience with roadway and bridge construction and related projects.
• Experience coordinating inspection duties with multiple crews.
• Basic computer skills (Word & Excel) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation to ensure compliance with contract documents.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports on contractor work.
• Perform materials testing and maintain testing logs.
• Prepare sketches and data for engineers to modify projects.
• Keep diaries and reports on work accomplished and deficiencies.
• Perform mathematical calculations essential for inspections.
