Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP seeks a NCDOT CEI Transportation Technician I (TT-1) to join our CEI team in North Carolina. Inspectors manage field construction administration and inspection for diverse NCDOT and locality projects.

Responsibilities include field observation, daily/weekly reporting, materials testing, data sketching, and coordination with multiple crews. A relevant technical degree or equivalent experience is required, with OSHAs and NCDOT certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology or a HS diploma with 2 years related experience
• Experience inspecting roadway, bridge, and utility construction to ensure conformance to plans and permits
• Ability to coordinate inspection duties across multiple crews
• Experience tracking quantities, daily reports, monthly estimates, and as-built drawings
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Basic computer skills including Word & Excel are desirable

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation to ensure contract conformance
• Prepare daily/weekly reports on Contractor work
• Conduct materials testing and maintain testing logs
• Prepare sketches and data for Engineer’s changes to the project
• Maintain diaries and reports noting deficiencies
• Perform mathematical calculations as required
