Job summary

Whitman, Requardt and Associates, LLP is hiring a Transportation Technician V (TT-5) in North Carolina to support NCDOT CEI projects. The role involves field inspection, documentation, and coordination with crews to ensure conformance to plans and specifications.

The candidate should have an Associate’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with extensive inspection experience, strong reporting and math skills, and the ability to read and interpret plans.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with six years of related experience.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
• Experience inspecting roadway/bridge construction and monitoring conformance to plans.
• Ability to read/follow plans and specifications and document results.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation to ensure contractor work conforms to contract documents.
• Prepare daily/weekly reports on work completed by the contractor.
• Conduct materials testing and maintain testing logs.
• Prepare sketches and data for engineers to update plans.
• Maintain diaries and reports on work and deficiencies.
• Handle complex mathematical calculations as part of inspections.
