Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking a NCDOT CEI Transportation Technician II (TT-2) in North Carolina. The Inspector will manage and perform daily construction administration and inspection services for NCDOT and local projects, including field observations and reporting.

Requirements include an Associate degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with two years of related experience, or a high school diploma plus four years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with 2 years of related transportation technician experience; high school diploma with 4 years related experience allowed.
• Inspection experience with roadway/bridge construction and related projects; ability to monitor conformance to plans and permits.
• Good reading of plans and specs; able to coordinate with multiple crews and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation of Contractor operations to ensure conformance to contract documents.
• Prepare daily/weekly reports on work performed by Contractor and maintain records.
• Conduct materials testing and maintain testing logs; prepare sketches and data for Engineer.
• Maintain diaries and prepare reports on work accomplished and noted deficiencies.
• Perform advanced mathematical calculations for inspections and estimates.
• Coordinate inspection duties with multiple crews operating simultaneously.
