Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Field Technician II in Washington, DC to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation equipment with increased independence. You will troubleshoot issues using schematics, support commissioning activities, and document work with strong emphasis on safety and quality.

A background in electrical tech and 2–4 years of experience are preferred. The role offers competitive pay, travel incentives, and opportunities for professional certification

Qualifications

• Requires pre-employment drug screen (safety sensitive)
• Criminal background check required
• Must be able to work overtime and travel out of town as needed
• Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in electrical/electronic tech or military experience preferred
• 2–4 years relevant industry experience
• NETA II Certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety policies and PPE requirements in substation environments.
• Perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of high/medium/low voltage equipment with limited supervision.
• Inspect and test circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding, battery systems, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot using schematics and manuals; escalate complex issues as needed.
• Document testing and maintenance activities per project requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to complete field work safely and efficiently.
• Maintain tools and work areas to stay compliant with standards.
