UES is seeking a Field Technician II to support engineering, environmental services, materials testing, and inspection projects. You will perform advanced field and laboratory testing, conduct on-site inspections, and ensure projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or coursework in construction, engineering, geology, or related field preferred.
3+ years of field-based experience in materials testing, construction inspection, geotechnical fieldwork, or a related industry.
ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing certification preferred or ability to obtain within a specified time period.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to safely operate company vehicles.
Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and company safety policies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Field Data Collection (FDC) software or similar industry tools.
Mathematical skills sufficient to work with units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, procedures, manuals, technical documents, and reports.
Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to complete tasks efficiently.
Attention to detail to ensure accurate sample collection, testing procedures, and documentation.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a strong work ethic and commitment to high-quality results.
Flexibility to work variable schedules, including early mornings, weekends, overtime, and potential overnight travel.

Responsibilities

Perform field testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Ensure testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures.
Collect, label, and transport material samples to laboratories for analysis, following proper procedures to maintain sample integrity.
Ensure all testing equipment is properly maintained, and functioning correctly, following manufacturer and company guidelines.
Complete detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to project managers and stakeholders.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, field supervisors, contractors, and project managers, providing real-time updates on job status, site conditions, and issues encountered.
Mentor and support junior field technicians, providing guidance on field procedures, testing methods, and safety practices.
Follow all OSHA, company, and client safety protocols, ensuring PPE usage, hazard awareness, and field safety guidelines.
Adapt to changing project requirements and schedules, including early morning, weekend, or overnight work as needed.
Operate and maintain assigned company vehicle, including scheduling routine maintenance and upkeep.
Travel to job sites within the designated region, which may require overnight stays based on project needs.
