Job summary

UES is seeking a Field Technician II to support geotechnical, environmental, and materials testing projects. You will perform advanced field and lab testing, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in construction/engineering/geology preferred.
• 3+ years of field-based experience in materials testing, construction inspection, geotechnical fieldwork, or related.
• ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing certification preferred or ability to obtain.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; ability to operate company vehicles.
• Commitment to safety, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Field Data Collection software.
• Math skills for unit conversions; ability to read blueprints and technical docs.
• Strong problem-solving, time management, and attention to detail; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other materials.
• Ensure testing requirements meet project specs and company policies.
• Collect, label, and transport samples to laboratories with proper procedures.
• Maintain testing equipment per guidelines and ensure proper function.
• Complete reports and documentation; provide updates to managers and stakeholders.
• Communicate status, site conditions, and issues to supervisors and project managers.
• Mentor junior field technicians when needed; share best practices.
• Follow OSHA, PPE, and safety protocols; adapt to changing schedules.
• Travel to job sites regionally; occasional overnight travel.
