Job summary

Lumen Technologies seeks a Field Technician II to install, test, and troubleshoot network equipment across Greensboro. You will handle fiber, transport gear, and critical infrastructure with minimal supervision and follow established guidelines.

The role requires experience with circuit provisioning, maintenance, and testing (DS1/DS3/SONET) and proficiency in Windows/Office. On-call 24x7 and valid driver's license are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in installation, testing, and turn-up of telecom equipment including SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers and switches.
• Strong technical and mechanical background with transport gear and critical infrastructure knowledge.
• Must understand at least two major technician disciplines (Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, Outside Plant).
• PC skills and proficiency in Windows and Office; able to learn corporate databases.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment, replaces defective units, and restores service.
• Installs, tests, and decommissions Next Gen technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber, Ethernet, SONET, IP).
• Performs asset management, inventory updates, and coordinates materials shipment.
• Maintains site security and adheres to safety and cleanliness standards.
