Job summary

Lumen is hiring a Field Technician I to support asset management, installation, testing and maintenance of fiber and network equipment in TN. You will handle trouble tickets, monitor routes, coordinate materials, and assist with Next Gen technologies across the network.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED, basic Windows/Office skills, and willingness to be on-call. Physical work includes lifting up to 50 lbs and working in varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED, or up to 2 years relevant job experience.
• Experience in at least one technician discipline: Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, or Outside Plant.
• Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts.
• Must have PC skills and be well versed in Windows and Office.
• On-call 24x7 on rotation, with overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment, replaces defective parts, isolates issues to restore service.
• Assists installation, testing, and decommissioning of Next Gen technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength, Ethernet, IP).
• Uses tools to locate and protect underground facilities; performs preventive maintenance.
• Manages asset records and coordinates shipping/receiving of materials.
• Performs level 1 preventive maintenance on HVAC and DC power equipment.
