Lumen, a leader in AI-ready connectivity, seeks a Field Technician I to install, maintain, and repair critical network infrastructure across the Texas region. This entry‑level, field‑based position emphasizes hands‑on work, troubleshooting complex issues, and frequent travel between customer locations after comprehensive training.

You'll receive extensive training and mentorship, developing skills in fiber testing, OTDR diagnostics, and field operations while advancing within telecommunications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience or exposure to installation, repair, or technical field-service work.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions.
• Basic understanding of routers, networking equipment, or telecommunications technologies.
• Exposure to fiber installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently after training and follow established procedures.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently between customer locations.
• Ability to work outdoors and in varying field environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair network equipment and infrastructure
• Troubleshoot network issues involving routers, fiber, and related technologies
• Respond to and resolve service trouble tickets in a timely manner
• Perform equipment and card replacements as required
• Conduct fiber testing and troubleshooting using OTDR equipment
• Travel between customer sites to support installation and repair activities
• Support preventative maintenance activities to ensure network reliability
• Participate in on‑call and overtime support after completing training
