Job summary

L3Harris is seeking a Field Technician to join our team for installation and maintenance of communications systems at FAA facilities. The role involves traveling to multiple FAA sites (90% travel) and working from schematics and manuals to install, test, and troubleshoot complex equipment.

Applicants should have a HS diploma with substantial experience or an associate degree with relevant background; certification in telecom is preferred; ability to obtain FAA clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
• Certification in relevant telecommunications fields (e.g., CompTIA Network+, ETA International).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience working on the Voice Switching and Control System.
• Experience working on projects for the FAA or other federal agencies.

Responsibilities

• Remove, install, configure, and test communications equipment and supporting infrastructure, at various FAA facilities.
• Perform system troubleshooting and repair activities to ensure optimal operation of operational system.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret and implement installation drawings and specifications.
• Support site surveys to assess installation requirements and plan logistics.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety guidelines, protocols, and regulatory standards.
• Document all installation, repair, and maintenance activities accurately and thoroughly.
• Travel extensively to various FAA facilities as required by project assignments for 3-to-5 month durations as required.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
• Ability to obtain a FAA Public Trust clearance or a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
