Job summary
Baker Hughes in Houston is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join our field engineering and service team. You will oversee AVR system inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning across power generation, industrial, or marine applications.
You will support contract setup, maintenance, downtime mitigation, and provide technical reports, with occasional travel to customer sites; strong knowledge of generator controls and high‑voltage environments required.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Proven customer-facing technical experience.
- Hands-on experience with AVR/generator controls.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Perform AVR software configuration, commissioning, testing and validation.
- Support field engineering activities including installation and startup.
- Conduct routine and outage maintenance for reliable operation.
- Diagnose complex electrical/control issues with diagnostic tools.
- Prepare technical reports on testing, maintenance and warranty activities.
- Ensure safety standards when working with high-voltage equipment.
- Coordinate with suppliers, customers and warranty teams on issue resolution.
