Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Field Technician II in Utah to install, test, and troubleshoot telecom equipment across metro and long‑haul networks. You will manage fiber and network elements, perform maintenance, and support Next Gen technologies under minimal supervision.

The role requires a hands‑on technical background, strong safety practices, and the ability to work on-site with a distributed team in a fast‑moving environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in installation, testing and turn-up of telecom equipment including SONET, DCS, DWDM, Routers and Switches.
• Strong technical background with transport gear and critical infrastructure (HVAC, high-voltage, DC power).
• Experience in at least two of: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (SS7), TCP/IP, Outside Plant (Fiber locating, OTDR).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment, replaces defective equipment, and isolates issues to restore network.
• Install/change/decommission and test Next Generation technologies: Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber Optic Transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP layers; install CPE and end-user services.
• AC Power (on limited basis).
• DC power installs including tertiary and BDCBB.
• Asset management and on-site materials; coordinate shipping/receiving; maintain tools and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on network and critical infrastructure including HVAC and high‑voltage systems.
